ACTIVITIES
Sikia serves as a “home base” for daily trips and excursions as well as numerous activities. It is ideally situated to offer easy access to all worth visiting sights of the area.
Sikia offers a sandy and rocky beach for swimming. The guest can also choose among the various beaches of the Pagasitic Gulf and the Aegean Sea.

Daily excursions by boat to the beaches of Pagasitikos Gulf and the Aegean Sea as well to the Sporades islands is another excellent suggestion.


FOR THE MORE ADVENTUROUS
The area of Gatzea and Pelion in general, is ideal for hiking on the famous “kalderimia” of the Pelion villages, cycling tours, horse riding, climbing and cannyoning under the supervision of experienced guides and professionals.




SIGHTSEEING
A unique experience is the ride with the “steam train” of Pelion; admiring the wild nature and the breathtaking views to the sea and the villages along the coast. For years, it has been used as the only mean of transport, connecting the commercial and industrial center of Volos with the western Pelion. Nowadays, Mountzouris offers the guest an exquisite experience, starting from the village of Lechonia and reaching the remarkable village of Milies, after a short stop in Ano Gatzea.

PELION VILLAGES
Sikia serves as a “home base” to discover the beautiful villages of the Centaurs’ Mountain, Pelion. The guest admires the picturesque landscapes, the remarkable architecture of the houses and mansions, the paved streets and paths that lead to central squares shaded by perennial plane trees. The villages along the coastline with the golden beaches and clear blue sea worth also a visit.
MUSEUMS
The most important museum in the area is the archaeological museum of Volos with numerous findings from the Paleolithic settlements of Dimini and Sesklo. Plenty folklore museums highlight the cultural identity of Pelion. The museum olive oil introduces the guset to the olive oil production techniques over the centuries.




ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITES
The archaeological site of Dimini, 5 km west of Volos, first became known from the remains of a large and organized Neolithic settlement (5th millennium BC) on the hill, which presents a unique architectural element, six stone enclosures, among which was built Neolithic houses. The second and oldest Neolithic settlement is Sesklo which is also of particular historical interest.



VOLOS
Within short distance from Sikia is the city where Jason and the Argonauts started their journey, Volos. Guests have the opportunity to promenade along the coastline and and admire Argo, the emblem of Volos. The hallmark of the city is the famous “tsipouradika”, small taverns serving Tsipouro, seafood and “mezedes” (tidbits).



NEARBY DESTINATIONS
Located just two hours are the holy rocks of Meteora and within three hours is the archaeological site of Delphi with the Temple of Apollo, the Kastallia Source, the Ancient Theatre and the Archaeological Museum of Delphi.
